The water used in the process, especially in the paper industry requires a reduction of biodegradable (soluble) substances.
Tecno Aqua proposes MBBR technology (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor), in which the Company has specialized thanks to previous experiences (eg Carteco).
The MBBR type reactors consist of tanks within which the presence of plastic carriers plays a primary role. These plastic materials are made up of special features that enable formation and development on their surface of a biofilm.
The biofilm acts directly on the BOD5 and COD by reducing them.
Carriers inside the tank are continuously moving through the intake of air from the bottom of the tank by using special air distribution manifolds.
The insufflation is handled through an oxygen controller placed out of the oxygen tub, which shows the amount of air needed by the blowers.
The particular structure of the carriers used by Tecnoaqua permit to have a high specific surface for the development of biofilm and to protect the biofilm from the abrasion and rubbing phenomena.
Downstream of the MBBR it can be used as a final clarifier to remove the organic sludge formed in the tub, a sedimentator or a dissolved air flotator. Now the water can be sent to the drain.
